Dear Skyhigh Security Customer,
We are writing to inform you about an upcoming change to our Skyhigh Security Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solution, specifically related to the legacy Data Identifiers.
We are moving towards a more advanced and versatile approach using Classifications and phasing out our legacy DLP solution (Data Identifiers). With these enhancements, we will gradually discontinue the use of legacy Data Identifiers, along with associated content-based features like keywords, patterns/regular expressions, file name, file size, file type and legacy EDM/IDM rules in CASB DLP.

Benefits of Enhanced DLP using Classifications:
Classifications based DLP approach offers several advantages over the legacy version:
Classifications based DLP approach offers several advantages over the legacy version:
- Unified DLP Classifications: With Classifications made available across the SSE platform use cases, DLP policy management is seamless and consistent.
- Enhanced DLP capabilities: All new innovations including Enhanced EDM & IDM and AI based advancements to better classify data are all centered around Classifications.
End-of-Support Dates:
- For customers not actively using these legacy features in their policies, these features will be hidden from your DLP console immediately.
- For customers currently using the legacy data identifiers in their policies, these features will continue to be supported until June 30, 2025. Please migrate to the new classification based solution before this deadline.
Transition Support:
- Self-managed Migration mode: Customers looking to transition their data identifier based policies manually can do so today to use classifications
- Skyhigh Security has put together a detailed migration guide (linked here) to provide a detailed comparison of data identifiers with classifications and possible migration paths with steps
- Please report any gaps or challenges in migrating to data classifications and Skyhigh Security will provide alternatives and work with you to find a solution
- Classification tester / sandboxing tool: To help with manual migration, we have built a new Classification tester tool which helps you to check if the classifications will satisfy the data protection requirements before their use in the policies. This will be available after the 6.7.0 release.
- Skyhigh assisted backend migration:
- The Skyhigh team will be building an automated mechanism to help with scenarios where customers have 100s of policies. This backend tool can only be run by the Skyhigh Support teams. The automated tool will be ready by the end of Q3 2024.
- Customers who require assistance with automated migration will need to create support tickets
- Migrated policies will be created as clones of existing policies in disabled mode, so customers can choose to enable them in phases and test them alongside current data identifier policies
We are excited about the enhanced capabilities that Classifications will bring to your DLP experience. As always, we appreciate your understanding and continued partnership in making our technology better.
