The Trellix Anti-Malware Scan Engine is the core component at the heart of the Trellix Endpoint and Gateway products. Using patented technology, the Engine analyzes potentially malicious code to detect and block trojans, viruses, worms, adware, spyware, and other threats. This notice announces the initial availability of a new maintenance update to the current Scan Engine 6700 and calls out important information about download options and future release plans. Please note how this update will affect the products already in use in your environment.

Changes and new features in Scan Engine 6710:
- DAT Memory Protection feature for ENS Windows.
- Bug fixes and minor feature enhancements.
- Elective download for corporate products – June 24th, 2024.
- Managed throttle update for Endpoint Security for Windows – starting June 24th, 2024, through June 28th, 2024.
- Auto-Update for corporate products (except Endpoint Security for Windows, see above) – June 28th, 2024.
NOTE: Engine 6710 release is for Windows, macOS & Linux only. Engine 6710 will not be released for other supported platforms, though in the future, all platforms will be covered in the annual Engine release.
Release availability:
- For Endpoint Security for Windows installations:
- The new Engine 6710 will be available for elective download from the ‘commonupdater3’ download channel from June 24th, 2024.
- Engine 6710 will be delivered through a managed throttled automatic update starting June 24th, 2024, through June 28th, 2024. This automatic update is for all Endpoint Security for Windows installations that receive updates via daily AMCore content updates.
- For VirusScan Enterprise installations, non-Windows platforms, and OEM customers (except for ENSM) the new Engine 6710 will be available from the Security Updates page and SDK as an elective update from June 24th, 2024. Engine 6700 packages will continue to be available through the Security Updates page, although the upgrade to this new Engine is recommended.
- Engine 6700 support is unaffected by this release.
