Trellix File and Removable Media Protection 5.5.0: Introducing SaaS Migration Capabilities
The Trellix File and Removable Media Protection (FRP) 5.5.0 SaaS release is now available. This release introduces the ability to migrate FRP-managed endpoints from on-premises to SaaS.
Note: SaaS migration requires the corresponding FRP 5.5.0 on-premises release to have been deployed in your environment.
This release includes features and enhancements, including:
- Hardware-based Stack Protection (HSP): Provides enhanced security against advanced control-flow hijacking attacks.
- FRP-managed Endpoint Migration to SaaS: Integration with the ePO - SaaS Migration Wizard for seamless migration of FRP clients to SaaS, if eligible.
- Bulk Migration to SaaS of Removable Media Recovery Data: Ensure all removable media (RM) recovery data is available in SaaS, from one or more on-premises ePO servers. This enables the SaaS helpdesk operator to recover any RM devices that have been initialized from a managed FRP endpoint.
- Bulk Migration to SaaS of Removable Media Device Events: Ensure the last 100 days of removable media device events are available in SaaS for regulatory / compliance reporting needs.
Key Improvements for Windows and macOS Users
macOS users will experience faster and more space-efficient removable media (RM) initialization, a reliable application upgrade process, and automatic launching of the RM application after initialization. On Windows, we've improved the behavior of long file paths within the RM application.
FIPS in SaaS
For public sector customers or other regulated industries that mandate Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2, FRP SaaS backend services now use FIPS cryptographic modules.
