To maintain optimal delivery rates and protect the integrity of our email sending infrastructure, we are highlighting a critical shift in mail authentication standards.
Context:
Third-party mail providers have significantly increased the rigor of their Sender Policy Framework (SPF) validation. Operating without a valid SPF record, or not complying with one directly leads to IP reputation degradation and increased filtering by external receivers.
Our policy transition:
To ensure the health of the Email Security - Cloud outbound's ecosystem, we will be transitioning to a mandatory SPF requirement in a future release.
- Current status: SPF configuration is highly recommended to ensure deliverability of outbound emails.
- Future requirement: A valid SPF record will be required for all sending domains.
A follow-up field notice will be sent prior to enforcing this policy.
Recommended action:
While this is not yet enforced by our system, we strongly advise a proactive audit of your DNS records. Ensuring your domains are equipped with valid SPF records now will prevent service interruptions and reputation loss during the upcoming enforcement phase.
For step-by-step instructions, see Trellix Administrator's Guide and navigate to System configuration > Configuring outbound mail flow > Update the SPF record.
