We are providing an informational update regarding the Password Rules for Trellix Drive Encryption (On-Prem) 8.1.0 and Trellix Drive Encryption - SaaS 8.1.2602.
To support the upcoming transition to Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-3, the default minimum password length for user-based policies is now 7 characters and will be enforced the next time a user changes their password.
What you need to know:
- The minimum password length is now 7 characters (previously 3 characters).
- Existing user passwords remain valid and will not force an immediate lockout or reset.
- The new 7-character minimum will be enforced automatically during a user's next scheduled or manually initiated password change.
